Why 8calc.com exists
Most calculator sites bury a simple tool under pop-ups, ten paragraphs of filler, and forms asking for your email. 8calc.com is the opposite: every calculator loads instantly, works on your phone, gives the answer first, and then โ only if you want it โ explains the actual math underneath in plain English. No sign-ups, no spam, ever.
Built by a real person
8calc.com is built and maintained by Stanley King, a Las Vegas real estate broker-salesman with 23 years of experience. The money calculators use the same formulas lenders use โ from someone who has sat at thousands of closing tables. Read more on the About page.
Privacy and data
Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs are not sent to our server or stored (the currency converter fetches exchange rates from a public rate service). Ads are served by Google, which uses cookies as described in our Privacy Policy. The site is supported by advertising โ details are in our Privacy Policy.
Why another calculator site
Most online calculators are hostile. You arrive wanting one number, and before you get it you are asked for an email address, shown a countdown timer, or handed a "personalised quote" that is really a lead form. The result is often buried under three paragraphs of introduction that exist for search engines rather than for you.
These calculators do not do that. Enter your figures, get the answer, read the explanation if you want it, leave. Nothing here asks who you are, nothing sells your details on, and the arithmetic behind every result is written out in plain English underneath so you can check it rather than trust it.
Where the financial pages come from
The mortgage, loan, VA loan and relocation calculators were written with Stanley King, a Las Vegas real estate professional who has spent more than twenty-two years in the Las Vegas market and has sold almost sixteen hundred homes. Around a thousand of those were corporate-owned, investor-owned or bank-owned properties, which is an unusual concentration of institutional transactions for a residential agent.
That background shows up in what these pages choose to mention. The mortgage page talks about the costs that surprise people at closing, because he has watched it surprise them. The relocation page uses real Nevada numbers, including the state's lack of income tax, because he has moved a great many families across that particular border. If you want the arithmetic, it is here.
About the health and fitness calculators
The BMI, calorie, macro and body fat calculators implement standard published formulas - the WHO body mass index definition, the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for resting metabolic rate, the US Navy circumference method for body fat - and each page names the formula it uses so you can look it up.
They are arithmetic, not medical advice, and nobody here claims otherwise. No one involved in this site is a doctor, dietitian or trainer. A BMI figure in particular is a crude screening number that takes no account of muscle, build or age, and treating it as a verdict on your health would be a mistake. Where a page could be read as guidance, it says plainly that it is not.
How these pages are meant to be read
Every calculator states its formula, works through at least one example with real figures, and explains where the method breaks down. That last part matters most and is the part most sites skip. A calculator that tells you what it cannot do is more useful than one that projects false confidence - the electric vehicle payback figure, for instance, looks very different once you include the purchase premium, and the fuel page says so rather than leaving you to find out later.
